Summary

Passage: Philippians 4:10-23

We are wrapping our time in the book of Philippians! Our students walked through Philippians 4:10-23 on Sunday morning! In this passage Paul shows us what it means to be content in God. Paul says that he learned what it means to be content in any and every circumstance. If we remember Paul’s story, he knew what it was like to have a lot and he knew what it was to have very little. However, Paul says that he learned from these experiences to be content in all situations, and that only in God are we able to truly be content. Everything else only brings temporary fulfillment, but through Jesus Christ we can be sustained and satisfied for eternity.

At the end of the passage, our students looked at the faithful and sacrificial giving of the Philippians, as they gave Paul a substantial financial gift. Our students discussed what the ultimate purpose was for the Philippians to give Paul this gift. The ultimate purpose was to further the Kingdom of God!

Here are some questions to discuss with your student:

1.  Describe a time when you were not content.

2.  Why is contentment only found in God?

3.  What are some ways we can faithfully give to further the Kingdom of God? (Consider time, areas to serve, being inclusive.)
