Week 25: Acts 13:13-52

  1. As a group, summarize Acts 13:13-52

  2. What stood out to you from the text?

  3. Clearly, something caused John Mark to separate from Paul and Barnabas. What are some things today that cause us to shrink back from proclaiming the gospel to others?

  4. Why was Paul’s sermon here noticeably full of Jewish history?

  5. What does this tell us about the need to contextualize the gospel? Discuss what that does mean and what it doesn’t mean?

  6. How does Luke in this passage present the truth of human responsibility in salvation and God’s sovereignty in salvation?

  7. John MacArthur says it is “error” to emphasize either truth at the expense of the other. Have you been in a place where one truth was emphasized over the other? Why do you believe we have a tendency to favor or emphasize one of these truths at the expense of the other?

  8. What does this passage teach us about those we share the gospel with?
