  3. Discuss with your group why Paul was willing to participate in this custom. What does it teach us today about sacrificing personal freedoms for the sake of others?

  4. What do we learn from Paul in how he handles this situation? Consider his content and his composure. What does this teach us about Paul’s view of God?

  5. How did Paul’s past relate to the people he was sharing with?

  6. As a Roman citizen, Paul was protected by the laws of the land. Give some examples of how the laws of the land protect us as Christians.

  7. In your own words, explain what it means to have both an earthly citizenship and a heavenly one. How are we to balance those? Is it possible that we get those out of balance at times? Can you think of examples.
